As AI training, cloud computing and high performance workloads push more heat into fewer rack units, conventional room cooling struggles to keep temperatures stable. Liquid cooling answers the density problem, but many sites have no chilled water loop to support it. IMMERSION ENERGY's Air-Liquid CDU closes that gap: it cools the liquid cooled system's circulating medium directly with air, using its own integrated heat exchanger and fans — no external water supply needed.

The unit combines both sides of the cooling loop in one rack mounted package. The air side pairs a high efficiency copper tube aluminum fin heat exchanger with EC fans, while the secondary side carries a variable frequency circulating pump, temperature and pressure sensors, filters and optional flow meters. Factory pre-installation and pre-commissioning mean the CDU arrives tested and ready to mount, connecting through quick release chucks as standard — with quick plug connectors and terminal structures as options. Heat transfer capacity spans 8 to 16kW.
A 4.3-inch or 7-inch color touch screen provides multi level permission control. The control system monitors temperature, pressure, flow, water quality and condensation risk, maintaining temperature control accuracy up to ±0.5°C — the precision that high density computing demands.
Energy performance comes from several choices working together. EC fans modulate air volume continuously, consuming roughly 30% less power than AC fans. The variable frequency pump adjusts flow automatically to match load, with redundant configurations available. Combined with efficient finned tube heat exchange, the unit removes heat while keeping power draw as
Compatibility extends across coolants — deionized water, ethylene glycol and propylene glycol — and across materials, working seamlessly with copper and aluminum liquid cooling plates. The 19-inch standard design even supports 21-inch cabinet installation, adding layout flexibility. Reliability is protected by 304 stainless steel fittings, RS485 communication with comprehensive alarms, power failure safe parameter storage, online maintenance sensors and filters, and standard or customized monitoring protocols.
