As data centers continue to demand reliable and energy-efficient cooling, making better use of available heat sources has become an important part of modern cooling system design. For a data center project in Malaysia, IMMERSION ENERGY has supplied a flue gas-fired lithium bromide absorption water chiller with a 1,200 kW cooling capacity, providing an efficient cooling solution based on recovered thermal energy.
· Country: Malaysia
· Application: Data Center
· Product: Absorption Water Chiller
· Cooling Capacity: 1,200 kW
· Flue Gas Temperature: 454 → 170 / 140°C
· Hot Water Temperature (Heat Source): 92 → 80°C
· Chilled Water Temperature: 12 → 7°C
· Cooling Water Temperature: 55 → 60°C

The product provides a 1,200 kW cooling capacity for the data center and utilizes flue gas and hot water as thermal energy sources. Compared with conventional electrically driven chillers, absorption cooling can make use of available waste heat, helping reduce dependence on electricity-driven refrigeration and improve overall energy utilization.
The system is designed to handle a flue gas temperature reduction from 454°C to 170/140°C, while the hot water heat source operates from 92°C to 80°C. By recovering and utilizing thermal energy that would otherwise be discharged, the solution combines heat recovery with chilled water production, creating a more integrated approach to data center cooling.
On the chilled-water side, the system delivers chilled water from 12°C down to 7°C, providing the cooling medium required by the data center cooling infrastructure. The cooling water operates within a temperature range of 55°C to 60°C, supporting stable heat rejection during continuous operation.
The successful delivery of this absorption chiller to Malaysia demonstrates IMMERSION ENERGY's ability to integrate waste-heat recovery with high-capacity data center cooling applications. Rather than treating waste heat simply as an energy loss, the project transforms available thermal energy into a useful cooling source.
For data centers seeking greater energy efficiency and more sustainable cooling strategies, absorption chillers provide an additional pathway for utilizing recovered heat while maintaining reliable cooling performance. This project represents another step toward more energy-conscious data center infrastructure and strengthens IMMERSION ENERGY's capabilities in customized thermal management solutions for international markets.
